Dealing with knee pain that just won’t go away?
You’ve tried resting. Maybe icing. Maybe even taking time off from workouts.
And yet… it keeps coming back.
If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone.
Knee pain is one of the most common things we see...and one of the most misunderstood.
The good news?
Most knee pain is treatable without surgery and often improves faster with the right approach.
Why knee pain sticks around
Knee pain doesn’t usually persist because something is “damaged beyond repair.”
More often, it sticks around because:
1. You were told to just “rest”
Rest can help calm things down temporarily...but it doesn’t fix the underlying issue.
When you go back to activity, the pain returns.
2. You’re not loading the knee the right way
Your knee is designed to handle load.
But if:
Your hips aren’t contributing
Your quads aren’t doing their job
Or your movement patterns are off
The knee takes more stress than it should
3. You’ve been given a generic plan
“Do these 3 exercises” isn’t a strategy.
Knee pain is individual. What works for someone else may not work for you.
3 things you can do today to start improving your knee pain
1. Keep moving (but modify)
Stopping everything usually backfires.
Instead:
Reduce intensity
Adjust range of motion
Stay active in ways that feel manageable
2. Build strength around the knee
Strong muscles = less stress on your knee
Focus on:
Quads
Glutes
Hamstrings
Strength is one of the most evidence-backed ways to reduce knee pain
3. Pay attention to how you move
Small changes in:
Squatting
Running
Going up/down stairs
…can make a BIG difference
What most people get wrong about knee pain
You are not “bone on bone.”
You are not “wearing your knee out.”
And pain does NOT automatically mean damage is getting worse.
These beliefs actually keep people stuck longer than the injury itself.
When should you get help?
If your knee pain:
Has been lingering for weeks
Keeps coming back
Is limiting workouts or daily life
…it’s time to get a plan that’s specific to you.
