Pay the Farmer
Hey y'all,
Thank you to those of you that made it out this week for an awesome workout! This was definitely a contender for the toughest workout yet (as reported by members).
We called this one "Pay the Farmer".
We first split into two teams (Team Tough and Team Heavy) based on average ruck weight with the people that carry a little heavier on one team and those that carry a bit lighter on the other. This allowed us to add appropriate sandbag carry weight to each group and of course so we could race and have some good competition. Team Tough averaged about 20 lbs per pack and so they were given 2 extra 20lb sandbags that they had to carry. Team Heavy averaged about 30 lbs per ruck so they were given 2 extra 30lb sandbags to carry.
Your choice ruck weight +
Buy in: ruck
3x around the basketball court:
Walking lunge down the sidelines with lateral lunges along the baseline
Main: 2.6 mile out-and-back ruck on Sunset blvd (Big hill). Each team started with one "farmer" who had to carry the 2 extra sandbags (one in each hand, no shoulder carries) as far as they could before they had to drop them. When the farmer dropped the sandbags, their team members would owe them 10 squats and then the next person would pick up the sandbags and continue. This repeated until each team returned to the start. Team Tough pulled out the victory and came in just about 15 seconds ahead of Team Heavy. Congrats Team Tough!

5x around the basketball court:
Sprint the sidelines and side shuffle the baselines
Totals: 2.6 miles of rucking with about 2 to 4 carries of 40-60 pounds of extra weight depending on the team.
Avg pace 16:10 per mile
Time elapsed: 50 mins
Total Lunges ~ 72
Total lateral lunges ~ 48
Total squats ~ 60-100
Total Sprints ~ 10
People felt this one after and it was awesome to see the animal instincts come out of a lot of you, pushing up those hills and carrying until your fingers and shoulders could do no more! This will definitely be one we re-visit soon.
